An old roommate and college friend of mine found me on our high school website and contacted me. It was pretty cool talking with via email the past few nights. Anyway he loved my website http://www.ourweddingproposal.com and asked me how hard it is to make a website. But really the question he wanted to ask was how much money can you make on your site. That answer is pretty simple. I could make a whole lotta money and I'm working at that but really I'm making pennies... pennies do add up and I'll take it for now. Eventally I'd like to take the funds from the site and go on a nice vacation with my future wife...

Now he wants me to help him setup his own website selling items that help lower your carbon footprint, although he's not a tree hugger as he calls it but rather a caring American that is going to do his part to help the environment. I started a oscommerce site and its pretty simple to setup and the backend is quite easy to operate but I don't think its what hes looking for. I need to find a system that resells where we could link our product to their site and not worry about the shipping etc...

The next big project I'm working on is for a good friend of mine. He wants a forum setup with alot of bells and whistles. I'm going to layout the forum, I have a friend in silicon valley who's going to setup the proper theme. Then we are bring in in the big guns from Tivo to help code the necessary components to install into the phpBB forum. I need to start getting good at phpBB forum based boards I guess.. Do you know how to setup a video reply on a forum? I need some assistance with this coding so contact me.

Time to lose those LB's...

Well it's finally time in my life to try and lose a few pounds! I wrestled in the 130 weight class in High School and soon after that scrawny kid in H.S. was gone. My shoulders started getting larger but so did the tummy... by the time I finished college I was at 200lbs. For the past 5 years or so I've been right at 215 whether I was working out or not. On March 8th, 2008 I proposed to my girlfriend and now I have until 2010 to lose a few pounds before the wedding. I shouldn't word it like that I don't HAVE to lose the pounds for the wedding but I'd like to. I HAVE to lose the pounds for my health.

I'd like to be right at 180 when I get married and I know that isn't out of the question. A friend of mine pointed out Traineo.com to me and I've started a pretty simple diet. The diet is simple, STOP eating the crap I've been eating for years! I've cut out soda, red meats, fatty foods and laying off the sugar as much as possible... I did it quietly and kept it between just the two of us. The big concert plans are still happening but now its going to be an engagement gift instead of an event.

A message from the future Mrs. Daniel Pooler: Today, March 8, 2008 is the greatest day EVER!!! My true love asked me to marry him!!!!!! (of course I said yes, duh) I am so overwhelmed and happy I just cannot describe it.

March 28th 2008 - We made it to the Taste of Chaos concert with plans to get VIP tickets. Unfortunately from the start we had issues with communication between the VP of Marketing and the tour manager with my own persistence we were able to get backstage and have a meet and greet with most of the band. After which seems like many lies from Jim the tour manager and Jen the real wonder bitch of a woman who had us wait around out front for almost an hour giving us her word she'd come get us. After finally getting kicked out of the venue, we about had enough. I'm now on a mission to speak to the lead singer just like I was promised months ago from numerous people. I see Jen again the wonder girl hanging with her friends around the side of the building having a beer. I couldn't believe what I was seeing, we were waiting like she asked us to and she's B.S.'ing around the corner? She gave yet another B.S. excuse and ran backstage through the press entrance having us wait again right there with her promises to go find out whats going on. I had enough of that lying bitch so we made our way around the corner and saw Matt, the lead singer who we've been trying to meet all night. He does his thing, greets his fans while wait quietly on the side of the entire mob of people. What was nice about this whole thing was we did get around the gate from all the other fans thanks to a security guy who understood what the day meant to Laura and I. Matt was able to talk to us a little about the engagement and said he did remember agreeing to do it in front of the band months ago and wondered why we weren't taken care of. Then he asked Laura if she was happy and he told us how nervous he was after being with his girlfriend for almost 12 years. He signed our tickets with "congrats" on it, We both took a photo with him. After all the waiting and bullshit this day went into I'm just so glad I didn't to propose until the actual day of because it would have been ruined and I would have been stressed to the max.

I guess I just need to vent a little because all my correspondence with the groups management company was all about getting a few minutes with them and being able to propose in front of them. After I told Matt that he said he did remember agreeing to that with Adam who no longer works for him and thats when he asked laura if she was happy. She was pretty annoyed at others in the management side and we both have good reason to be. You just don't lie to people, you tell them 'no' or 'possibly' or 'I will do what I can', you don't tell someone to wait for you after the show at the ATM out front then get caught hanging with your buddies next to a tour bus. God I'm so pissed at wonder bitch Jen, not sure what her job was maybe it was the tour liar? If that's the case she was very very good at it! We at least got backstage for a while, we did hang out with the band got a complement from 2 of the band members on the shirt Laura got me, what I like to call my band gear and I got the photo with Matt too. We aren't psycho fans like many of the wack jobs that were asking for numerous things signed and hugs and kisses etc...

All I thought I was getting was 10 minutes alone with the band, have a beer, let Laura talk about her love of music with them. I know she wanted to ask things like: How they started out, what made the change from this album to the last, etc... Instead we were thrown in with the dogs. Hopefully World Audience can hook us up in the future the next time they are down this way for a one on one sesh with the group? Or maybe I'm just crazy? They did screw up pretty badly but we are just small fish compared to everything that had to go on with the show.

Thanks to: The few security members that understood what was going on for Laura's big day, Ashley from World Audience for really trying to do what she could from California but unfortunately was having problems getting in contact with the right people due to cell phone coverage at the Venue, and finally after meeting members of avenged sevenfold not together, but different times throughout the night it seemed like they actually do care about their fans with numerous congrats from the band members and especially the front man Matt (M. Shadows) who spoke to us in person and shared his own personal story about of the anxiety that goes along with making the commitment to the one you love. So in the end, even going through all the managers and false promises we finally met the band through our own persistence the band was as humble as we thought, even more so. Although Laura wanted a crazy night of hevy metal fun it turned out to be a much more memorable experience because she actually got to connect with her favorite band as opposed to her numerous experiences of concerts.

She said yes...

This morning I decided to stop through the drive thru on my way to the airport. There was about 4 cars waiting in the drive thru lane in one direction and I ended up coming in from the other direction. When I usually come in from this side I just wait for the few cars to go then I take my turn and get in line. Well today was different this women let me in line. As soon as I came up to the line of cars she waved me in. I thought to myself no this isn't happening she doesn't mean to get in front of her... Does she? Not in this neighborhood anyway! Well she did and I was shocked...

I ordered my usual #4 with cheese and a vanilla iced coffee, pulled up to the window and told the cashier that I'd like to pay for the breakfast of the woman behind me. At first this seemed like a really nice thing and I figured it wouldn't take long. But because I was using a credit card we needed a manager to approve the second transaction...

After a short wait I told the cashier to just tell the woman behind me that because of her kindness I was returning the favor. Of course my favor cost me eight bucks, but that's a small price to pay to make someones day... I didn't do this because I wanted her to thank me or wave or anything so I just went on to the next window picked up my order saw her talking with the cashier behind me. Got my drink and pulled up a bit. She looked at me then the cashier with a nice smile on her face. Dint wave or anything just like I hoped. Picked up her phone and dialed a friend. By the smile on her face while she talked on the phone I could tell I made her day. Only because of her nice gesture.

Today feels a little like the Holiday season... Of course I'm in shorts and sweating but it still feels somewhat like Christmas.

I caught this nice Nurse Shark off the coast
of Whale Cay, Bahamas. I got to the island a little late and decided to
spend the night instead of trying to beat the weather back. Now we
didn't plan to spend the night so we didn't have enough food for the few
of us that were spending time over there so we decided to go fishing and
catch dinner. Well to everyone's surprise we caught this 5'8" Shark.
We took a few photos and let the fish go what a fight it was!

time. Now imagine this as a background? Key West sunset Kiting... Spent
a weekend in the Keys visiting my brother and got to kiteboard while I
was there. Good times!

The worst vet in South Florida!

August 2007 I posted the horror story about the worst Vet east of the Mississippi. The vet that charged me 800 in vet bills and nothing was wrong with my dog. Even me regular vet said it was absurd to charge what was charged. Here's a photo of the front door.

As a corporate pilot I have plenty of time on my hands when i get to where I'm going. The old joke is hurry up and wait, sense our job is to get the passengers to their meetings and wait for them to finish... So I've been trying to find a mobile blogging program to use with my Treo 700p. i have only found one free program u*blog and it keeps killing my Treo so I have been unable to use it on the road as far. Anyone used one of these mobile blogging platforms yet? If so, what would you recommend for the Treo 700p?

I've found the best way so far is to use Blogger and send each mobile blog via an email. but I'm not sure how to edit the labels or make photos embed with the posts so far.

$800 in vet bills!!!

About a month after we got our puppy Nala she had some blood in her stool. Not much just enough to be concerned... Laura and I brought her in to see the ER Vet down the street just to be on the "safe" side. We both thought the vet would give her some meds or tell us to change the food etc... Unfortunately the opposite happened, they scared us into thinking it was some horrible disease and "con"'ed us into keeping her there overnight. The bill came to over 800 dollars for fluids, medication to sedate her, boarding, X-rays and blood, urine, writing test's!! Kidding about the writing test just making sure you were awake! The way the ER Vet made it sound was if I don't pay all this money and keep her overnight she will DIE. They didn't take their time either explaining how horrible this disease was either!! Yes she will DIE!

Well the following day I pick her up from the ER vet and take her to my vet. My vet told me to feed her some special ID food and she'll be fine. The ER didn't do anything but sedate my dog and charge me 800 dollars! Even my vet said the ER vet was probably a new vet and didn't want to take any chances and she explained that coming out of vet school they are scared about every virus known to man or dog. I wanted to scream!!! After trying to get some of my $$ back from the ER vet all I got was more stress added to my life. I spent hours on the phone argueing with the vet's manager and she stood her ground. Even though my vet didn't even do the tests for the diseases that where talked about!!

The biggest problem I see here is now whatever might be wrong with my dog in the future won't be taken care of for a few days due to the trust in the ER vet. Who wouldn't leave their dog at the ER after the vet tells you she "might" DIE? Those words actually came out of the emergency vet's mouth. I'll never go there again. My dog will really have to be sick for me to ever return. Isn't that horrible!

What is this blogging all about anyway? Do people actually read this stuff? Am I just writing a journal entry and let others watch?

I was on the prowl for a birthday present for my sweetheart. What should I get her? We've been together for a year and a month or two and we live together. We get along great and I thought to myself maybe a dog. She's been wanting a dog for so long and I know we'll be together for a while. I've had thoughts of marriage and plan to propose in the next year so I thought this is a great step for us! I start searching for the perfect puppy at the local humane societies but couldn't find the perfect one so I decided to take her with me knowing that the thought of getting a dog would be a great present in itself. We walked in the humane society and instantly fell in love with the perfect dog. I Chow Chow Mixed puppy red and very fluffy. Today she is 30 lbs and 6 months old, we still do not know what type of mix she is. But we have fallen in love.

Next step is puppy training. Who's been though the puppy courses and how well did they work? I want to teach her some cool tricks but she's not too into treats at all. She doesn't get excited like previous dogs I've had. I hope the puppy school works! I have photos at www.danpooler.com of my wonderful little puppy Nala! She looks like a lion hence the name!
